ABSTRACT A releasable ski binding comprising separable binding parts including clamping members for releasably securing a ski boot to a ski and responsive to a predetermined force applied to the binding parts for a predetermined period of time for separating the binding parts. The clamping members are coupled in frictional engagement, one of the members being movable at a controllable rate of movement in response to a movement of the binding parts. With a predetermined force applied for the predetermined period of time, the one movable member effects a complete and substantially instantaneous release of all clamping forces from the binding parts.
