ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Bottle-shaped containers of biaxially-oriented blow- molded plastic material are introduced into the space formed between the helical blade continuously rotated and the backup plate of a screw conveyor, and are conveyed in one direction to next conveyor by the rotation of the helical blade of the screw conveyor. The bottle-shaped containers are stood by at the end of the conveyor. When a predetermined number of bottle-shaped containers thus conveyed are aligned in predetermined longitud- inal and lateral array, they are simultaneously held by a container group holding mechanism utilizing negative pressure, and are then raised from the standby position. The containers thus raised are lowered directly into a corrugated fiberboard box designed to accommodate the aligned container group, by releasing the pressure in the container group holding mechanism.
