ABSTRACT Pollutant particles such as lead particles are separated from engine exhaust gases by passing the gases through a restricted flow passage to increase their speed, reversing the gas flow by impingement on a first curved baffle having apertures backed by a chamber containing a particle-conglomerating packing, then reversing the gas flow again by a second curved and apertured baffle backed by a similar packing before the gases discharge to exhaust through an outlet.
