New catalysts of the type termed triphase, that is a polymer bound phase transfer catalyst, are provided, said catalysts being represented as Image wherein R is a member of the group diethyl-n-butylamino, tripropylamino, tributylamino, trialkylphosphino and tri- arylphosphino; X is chlorine or bromine; and n is from 600 to 2,000,000.
