H0E 79/F 320 Azo compounds, their preparation and use Abstract of the disclosure: Monoazo compounds of the formula I Image (I) wherein R is lower alkyl, X is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, methyl, ethyl, methoxy or ethoxy and Y is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl are obtained by diazotizing lower alkyl 3-nitro-4-amino- benzoates and coupling onto the corresponding 5-acetoacetyl- amino-benzimidazolones-(2). The products are colorants and due to their high fastness to light, weathering chemicals and migration useful as pigments.
