ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for treating mixtures of isopropylnaph- thalenes (IPN) obtained from any source and increasing the beta-isopropylnaphthalene content thereof by a batch or continuous isomerization reaction in the presence of a rare earth metal ammonium-exchanged, "Y type" crystalline alum- inosilicate catalyst. The process also includes disproport- ionation of higher alkylates of naphthalene, such as diiso- propylnaphthalene, to increase the IPN content of said mixtures.
