A B S T R A C T Process for the recovery of hydroquinone from oxidized 1,4-di- isopropylbenzene. Low boiling materials are removed by distillation in the presence of a C9 or C10 aromatic hydrocarbon. Hydroquinone is then isolated either by the addition of water to the still residue to cause it to crystal- lize, or by extraction from the still bottoms with methyl isobutyl ketone, and crystallization therefrom.
