ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Polymer latices comprising at least one halogen- containing .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated monomer, at least one bis(hydrocarbyl)vinyl phosphate and at least one comonomer such as an alkyl acrylate or a N-methylol acrylamide, blended with antimony oxide are excellent flame retardant additives for flammable materials. The compositions of the present invention show a marked reduction in the after-glow phenomenon associated with compositions containing antimony oxide.
