Abstract of the Disclosure This invention relates to a thyristor permitting, at a given drop in forward voltage selective setting of the release time or the reverse current characteristic and a reduction of the blocking current. This if achieved in that the anode side of the semiconductor body of the thyristor is divided into area elements of high and low concentration of recombination centres, the areas on the anode side which are not disposed opposite the emitter being provided with a higher average concentration of recombination centres. The invention is particularly useful in power thyristors.
