ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A magnetic recording member comprising a support having thereon a magnetic recording layer comprising a ferro- magnetic powder dispersed in a binder with the magnetic recording layer containing at least one copolymer containing therein in any order repeating units represented by the following general formula (I), (I) Image in which R0 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R1 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 7 carbon atoms, a phenyl group, a tolyl group, an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an acyloxy group having 2 to 3 carbon atoms; R2 represents a hydrogen atom, a sodium atom, a potassium atom or an ammonium group; R3 represents an alkyl group having 6 to 24 carbon atoms; and the compositional molar ratio of m:n is about 3:1 to 1:2.
