ABSTRACT: A dropout detector, which amplifies a signal without dropout to a first signal level, the amplifier in the signal path being followed by a threshold device which determines whether the signal drops below a second signal level which corresponds to the threshold value, comprises a control device which with its input is con- nected to the signal path before the threshold device, which control device depending on the signal amplitude in the absence of a dropout supplies a control quantity by means of which the difference in level between the first and the second signal level is maintained within a given range.
