ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An identifying card, which cannot be copied, comprises an information layer, optical markings which can be read by machine, the optical markings displaying a fine structure of at least 300 lines per mm and being concealed behind two protective layers. At least one of the protective layers is permeable to infra-red light. The protective layers are united with the information layer in a manner such that the information is destroyed if one of the protective layers is removed. In one embodiment, the markings are diffractive or refractive phase-structures formed by at least one hologram diffractive screen, kineform or miniature Fresnel prism imprinted in plastic. One of the two protective layers may also be an information layer. The inside of one of the protective layers may have a cellular surface structure. A porous reflection layer is located between the information layer and the one protective layer.
