FRACTURE BOARD ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A fracture board is described which includes an arm- supporting upper section which has an outwardly-facing channel therein. This channel has two ends, at least one of which is open, and the channel is configured to cradle and support the upper section of an arm, for example, of a child where that child has suffered a supracondylar fracture of the humerus bone in that arm. In a preferred embodiment of this invention, this arm-supporting upper section includes at least one slot extending across the fracture board, and shaped to receive and position a cassette for taking radiographs of that arm fracture. This slot extends generally parallel to the arm-supporting channel and mounts the cassette for taking lateral radiographs of the lower portion of the fractured arm. The fracture board also includes a slot or drawer-like opening in a lower section thereof, adapted also to receive and hold a cassette in position for taking an anteroposterior radiograph of that arm. The fracture board can be constructed simply from pieces of wood secured together for defining the arm-supporting channel and slots; or alternatively, the fracture board can be molded as an integral unit from a polymeric material such as nylon, poly- ethylene, or other such material through which x-rays can pass. The fracture board herein also includes strap retainer means provided along opposite sides of the arm-supporting channel. These strap retaining means are used with suitable straps which can be adjusted, to hold the upper portion of the fractured arm substantially immovable while supported in the channel of the fracture board, while traction is applied to the supracondylar fracture of the humerus.
