A B S T R A C T An oven door has a movable shield for covering its window during a self-cleaning cycle of an oven. The door includes apparatus for automatically raising and lowering the shield to and from a window covering position as the oven door is raised and lowered, improved track system for controlling and guiding the shield movement within the door and improved locking means for locking the oven door shut only when the shield is in its window covering position.
