Mr. Motometer
The Boymoto Corp. was a company initiated in 1920 by Motometer Co. (of Long Island City, NY employee Herman Schlaich to take advantage of the company's hard earned successful worldwide reputation making Boyce Moto-Meter engine temperature indicating instruments/gauges. As an employee of the Motometer Company, Schlaich spent his time and efforts there largely scouring the patent files for products that he might be able to produce under his own name. He created the "Boymoto" Company to capitalize off the temperature gauge's immense and growing popularity and success prior to gaining tremendous financial success in getting his motometer retaining device (i.e., lock) produced where upon selling by assignment the patent rights and getting a per unit sold royalty payment from the Motometer Company he still had the device independently produced and sold in the auto accessory aftermarket (gaining a whole new income stream), then taking his family out to the mid-West where he would abandon them with no money before heading back to Germany with millions of dollars. Once in Germany, he would assert that "he" started and was the driving force behind the Boyce Moto-Meter, it and the Company's success. The Boymoto Company did not last long as Schlaich started the "Moto Meter GmBH." Herman Schlaich by all accounts, including interview statements from his granddaughter had little to no integrity in any aspect of his life from pillaging other company and inventor's patents; to abandoning his wife, children and family; to falsely claiming the hard work and success of many others as his own. To this day, MotoMeter.de still claims the heritage of the authentic, original Motometer Company (of Long Island City, NY as their own (while offering no verifiable proof). Respectfully, I have rated this company and its entry extremely low based upon the unscrupulous nature of its founder.
