Arthur Rynyon Devereux Robson, known to his family as Pat, was always an inventor. He was also my father. After he retired he made musical instruments, including one that mooed, quacked and farted, and he made zithers, dulcimers, concertinas and auto harps. He could mend and fix just about anything. He didn't make a penny out of his inventions, sadly and he was never given the respect he deserved, possibly because he was rather eccentric. He embraced a number of careers as central heating engineer, motor mechanic, owner of a poodle parlour, technical draughtsman, organ restorer, shrink-wrap machine fixer, builder and cabinet maker, and was an acknowledged authority on Latin American music, especially tango.
