ABSTRACT An access flooring module, which makes electrical power and signal cables available to a user, is configured to be asily adapted and user friendly. The flooring module has a cover plate provided with a recess which contains a latch member for latching the cover plate in a locked position. The latch member is movable on a pair of pivots between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position the latch member lies almost flush with the floor and engages a rim of the recess. The pivots are located in elongate slots so that when a horizontal force is applied to the free end of the latch member when in the closed position, the latch member is situated horizontally away from engagement with the rim of the recess. A spring then operates to bias the latch member into a partially open position where it can be grasped by a user and pulled to the fully open position.
