ABSTRACT: A method of shaping a bulb for a cathode-ray tube, notably for an oscilloscope tube To this end, a portion, having a variable section in the axial direction, of a preshaped cylindrical glass body is reshaped to form a rectangular profile while maintaining the same circumference. After cooling, a body is obtained which consists of a cylindrical neck and a rectangular cone. Ultimately, a bulb is assembled by the provision of a rectangu- lar glass plate on the end of the cone. -12-
