The present invention discloses a remote network management system for coupling a series of remote serial devices, servers, and computers to one or more user workstations allowing for selective access of the remote devices. The remote serial devices, servers, and computers are all connected to a remote management unit which interfaces the user workstations to the remote devices. The power supply of each remote device is also connected to the remote management unit through a controllable power supply. The video from the remote networking equipment is digitized and optimized by an LCD controller located within the remote management unit before it is compressed for transmission. An option menu containing a menu of all the remote devices allows a user to select and operate any of the remote devices. The option menu is also utilizes to selectively control the power to the remote serial devices, servers, and computers.
L'invention concerne un système de gestion de réseau distant permettant de coupler une série de dispositifs sériels distants, de serveurs et d'ordinateurs avec une ou plusieurs station(s) de travail utilisateur afin de permettre un accès sélectif audits dispositifs distants. Les dispositifs sériels distants, les serveurs et les ordinateurs sont tous connectés à une unité de gestion distante qui établit une interface entre les stations de travail utilisateur et les dispositifs distants. L'alimentation de chaque dispositif distant est également connectée à l'unité de gestion distante par l'intermédiaire d'une alimentation pouvant être commandée. La vidéo provenant de l'équipement de réseau distant est numérisée et optimisée au moyen d'un contrôleur LCD placé à l'intérieur de l'unité de gestion distante avant d'être compressée pour être transmise. Un menu d'options contenant un menu de tous les dispositifs distants permet à un utilisateur de sélectionner et de faire fonctionner l'un quelconque des dispositifs distants.
