A portable cutting apparatus (13) which can be used to cut and seal a plastic material without the need for a backing surface is provided with a body section (20) and a heatable blade (22). The body section contains a portable power source (24) which can be used to heat the blade. The portable power source may be gas or electric. In order to cut or seal the rope or cable the blade may be moveable with respect to the body section. Alternatively the blade may be in a fixed position relative to the body section and the apparatus may have a moveable presentation means which brings the rope or cord into contact with the blade.
L'invention concerne un appareil de coupe portable (13) pouvant servir à couper et sceller un matériau plastique, s'affranchissant d'une surface de doublure, comportant une section de corps (20) et une lame chauffante (22). La section de corps comporte une source d'énergie portable (24) pouvant servir à chauffer la lame. Ladite source d'énergie portable peut être du gaz ou du courant électrique. Dans le but de couper ou sceller la corde ou le câble, la lame peut être déplacée par rapport à la section de corps. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, la lame peut se trouver dans une position fixe par rapport à la section de corps, et l'appareil peut comporter un élément de présentation mobile amenant la corde ou le câble en contact avec la lame.
