A gun muffler and a noise abatement system for a large caliber gun having a gun tube including a catcher (385). The catcher (385), which is disposed within the pressure vessel (2) for entrapping particulates and permitting the projectile to pass, includes a plurality of columns (386) adapted for being removably attached within a pressure vessel (2). The gun muffler includes a transition section fitted around the gun tube and engaging the gun tube for preventing the escape of residual combustion gases caused by the firing of a projectile by the gun. Attached to the transition section is at least one pressure vessel (2) which defines a pressure chamber for containing residual combustion gases and attenuating pressure waves. The noise abatement system includes a horizontal concrete slab and a gun muffler, as that described above, adapted for being mounted on the concrete slab.
L'invention concerne un silencieux de canon et un système de réduction du bruit pour canon de gros calibre comprenant un tube-canon qui comporte un piège à particules à l'intérieur de l'enceinte sous pression. Ce piège à particules, servant à capter des particules et à permettre au projectile de passer, comprend une pluralité de colonnes conçues pour être fixées de manière amovible dans une enceinte sous pression. Le silencieux de canon comprend une section de transition logée autour du tube-canon et venant en contact avec le tube de canon de façon à éviter que les gaz de combustion résiduels s'échappent lorsque le tir d'un projectile est déclenché par l'arme.
