A wireless local area network (WLAN) includes at least one high throughput-enabled access point (AP) and at least one high throughput-enabled station (STA). A STA and a target AP communicate high throughput-related information and the STA performs a basic service set (BSS) transition to the target AP based on the high throughput-related information. The high throughput-related information may be included in an IEEE 802.11r, 802.11k, or 802.11v signaling message. The STA may send measurement reports for an extended range and a normal range of an AP separately, or may send a combined measurement report for an extended range and a normal range of an AP. A network management entity may obtain current status information of the STA and the AP regarding high throughput capabilities, features and parameters and selectively enable and disable at least one of the high throughput capabilities, features and parameters of the STA and the AP.
Selon l'invention, un réseau local sans fil (WLAN) comprend au moins un point d'accès (AP) compatible haut débit et au moins une station (STA) compatible haut débit. Une STA et un AP cible communiquent des informations liées au haut débit et la STA effectue une transition d'un ensemble de services de base (BSS) vers l'AP cible sur la base desdites informations liées au haut débit. Les informations liées au haut débit peuvent être contenues dans un message de signalisation IEEE 802.11r, 802.11k ou 802.11v. La STA peut envoyer des comptes-rendus de mesure séparément pour une portée élargie et une portée normale d'un AP, ou peut envoyer un compte-rendu de mesure combiné pour une portée élargie et une portée normale d'un AP. Une entité de gestion de réseau peut obtenir des informations d'état actuel de la STA et de l'AP concernant les capacités, les attributs et les paramètres de haut débit et activer et désactiver sélectivement les capacités, attributs et/ou paramètres de haut débit de la STA et de l'AP.
