Disclosed is a method for prediction of the prophylactic and/or therapeutic effect of an RAR-.alpha. agonist on a malignant tumor. The method comprises the steps of measuring the expression amounts of a molecule belonging to the p160 family and a molecule belonging to the SP110 family in a sample collected from a malignant tumor in a patient, and determining that an RAR-.alpha. agonist is effective for the treatment of the malignant tumor in the patient when the expression amount of the molecule belonging to the p160 family is dominant in the balance between the expression amounts of the molecule belonging to the p160 family and the molecule belonging to the SP110 family.

Cette invention concerne un procédé de prédiction de l~effet prophylactique et/ou thérapeutique d~un agoniste de RAR-.alpha. sur une tumeur maligne. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à mesurer les quantités d~expression d~une molécule de la famille p160 et d~une molécule de la famille SP110 dans un échantillon de tumeur maligne prélevé sur un patient, et à déterminer si un agoniste de RAR-.alpha. montre une efficacité thérapeutique contre la tumeur maligne du patient lorsque la quantité d~expression de la molécule appartenant à la famille p160 est dominante dans l~équilibre liant les quantités d~expression de la molécule de la famille p160 et de la molécule de la famille SP110.
