The present invention relates to a method for a multi-roll calender and to a multi-roll calender for controlling the moisture gradient of a fibrous web and for enabling the manufacture of high quality paper grades, such as WFC, LWC-roto and SC-A, by means of on- or off-line calendering. According to the invention, an on- or off-line multi-roll calender formed of separate sets of rolls (A, B) is used for calendering, and the fibrous web (W) is subjected to intermediate moistening between the sets of rolls (A, B).
L'invention concerne un procédé mettant en oeuvre une calandre à plusieurs rouleaux, de même qu'une telle calandre. Ce procédé consiste à réguler le gradient d'humidité d'une nappe fibreuse et à permettre la fabrication de types de papier de qualité supérieure, telles que du papier d'impression WFC, du papier LWC pour héliogravure et du papier d'impression supercalandré, au moyen d'un calandrage en ligne ou non. Selon l'invention, on utilise une calandre comprenant plusieurs rouleaux en ligne ou non, formée d'ensembles séparés de rouleaux (A, B) pour calandrer, la nappe fibreuse (W) étant soumise à une humidification intermédiaire entre les ensembles de rouleaux (A, B).
