An apparatus is disclosed for recording an information signal and a CTL signal on a magnetic record carrier (16). The apparatus is provided with an input (2) for receiving the information signal and at least one write head (10) located on a rotatable head drum (14) for writing the information signal producing slant tracks. A generator (36) for generating a CTL signal having a specific frequency and a write head (34) for writing the CTL signal producing a longitudinal track is also provided. In a first recording mode, a portion of the information signal is recorded by said write head (10) producing a track of information during each revolution of said head drum on said record carrier. The frequency of said CTL signal is such that an edge of the first type in said CTL signal is written in said CTL track for each of said tracks of information written by said write head (10). The record carrier (16) is transported with a predetermined first speed in said first recording mode and the head drum (14) is rotated with a predetermined rotational velocity. In a second recording mode, the write head (10) writes a portion of said information signal producing a track of information during each n-th revolution of said head drum (14) on said record carrier. The record carrier is transported with a second speed which substantially equals the first speed divided by n, in said second recording mode. The head drum is rotated with said same predetermined rotational velocity and a CTL signal having the same predetermined frequency is generated in said second recording mode. n is an integer larger than 1.
L'invention concerne un dispositif permettant d'enregistrer un signal d'information et un signal CTL (logique à transistors complémentaires) sur un support (16) d'enregistrement magnétique. Le dispositif comprend une entrée (2) recevant le signal d'information et au moins une tête (10) d'écriture placée sur un tambour (14) porte-tête, permettant d'écrire le signal d'information en produisant des pistes hélicoïdales. Le dispositif comprend en outre un générateur (36) permettant de générer un signal CTL de fréquence spécifique et une tête (34) d'écriture permettant d'écrire le signal CTL et produisant une piste longitudinale. Dans un premier mode d'enregistrement, une portion du signal d'information est enregistrée par la tête (10) d'écriture, produisant une piste d'information pendant chaque révolution du tambour porte-tête sur le support d'enregistrement. La fréquence de ce signal CTL est telle qu'un flanc du premier type dans le signal CTL est écrit dans la piste CTL pour chacune des pistes d'information écrites par cette tête (10) d'écriture. Le support (16) d'enregistrement est transporté à une première vitesse prédéterminée dans ce premier mode d'enregistrement et le tambour (14) porte-tête tourne à une vitesse de rotation prédéterminée. Dans un second mode d'enregistrement, la tête (10) d'écriture écrit une portion du signal d'information en produisant une piste d'information pendant chaque n-ième révolution du tambour (14) porte-tête sur le support d'enregistrement. Dans ce second mode d'enregistrement, le support d'enregistrement est transporté à une seconde vitesse qui correspond sensiblement à la première vitesse divisée par n. Le tambour porte-tête tourne à la même vitesse de rotation prédéterminée et un signal CTL qui a la même fréquence prédéterminée est généré dans le second mode d'enregistrement. n est un nombre entier supérieur à 1.
