A bi-directional stacking conveyor (10) is mounted below the discharge from a main conveyor and lies substantially perpendicular to the main conveyor. An adjustable length backstop (30) and adjustable width guide fingers (34A, 34B) are carried by the stacking conveyor (10) to accommodate forms of different lengths and widths, the backstop (30) and side guides (34, 34B) holding the sheets snugly in the stack. In response to a signal from a controller, the guide fingers (34A, 34B) on a side of the stack in the direction of desired movement are displaced to an out-of-the-way position and a motor drives the stacking conveyor belt to displace the stack in a first direction. At the end of a job or completion of a count and responsive to a signal to move the stacked sheets in an opposite direction, the controller operates the stepper motor for the opposite fingers to displace those fingers out of the path of movement of the stacked sheets in the opposite direction so that the motor is reversed and the conveyor belts displace the stacked sheets in the opposite direction.
Cette invention concerne un convoyeur empileur bidirectionnel (10) qui est monté au-dessous de la zone de décharge d'un convoyeur principal, sensiblement perpendiculairement à ce dernier. Le convoyeur (10) peut recevoir des formulaires de longueurs et de largeurs diverses et les maintenir sans forcer dans la pile grâce à une butée arrière (30) à longueur réglable dotée de doigts de guidage (34A, 34B) réglables en largeur. En réponse à un signal émis par une unité de commande, les doigts de guidage (34A, 34B) situés contre la pile du côté ou celle-ci va être déplacée s'écartent et un moteur met en mouvement la bande transporteuse du convoyeur pour déplacer la pile dans une première direction. A la fin d'une opération ou d'un comptage et en réponse à un signal de déplacement de la pile dans le sens inverse, l'unité de commande enclenche le moteur pas à pas qui écarte les doigts de guidage situés sur le côté opposé hors du chemin de la pile; le moteur inverse son sens de rotation et les bandes transporteuses déplacent les feuilles empilées dans le sens opposé.
