ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A building unit for interconnecting with other similar building units to create a structure such as a toy or a puzzle. The building unit has the form of an octahedron with a cube corner intruding into the body of the octahedron or projecting therefrom in place of each of predetermined faces of the octahedron. A protruding cube corner of the unit mateably fits into an intruding cube corner of a similar unit and an intruding cube corner of the unit mateably receives a projecting cube corner of a similar unit.
