A method and a system of using a gaming network having a server in communication with a plurality of gaming terminals to share gaming applications directly between selected gaming terminals using a peer-to-peer type communications architecture. The method and system are a combination of hardware and software, that controls the initiation of a shared game, determines the gaming terminals eligible to participate in the game, accepts or rejects their participation, and subsequently establishes virtual communication network directly between participating gaming terminals. The virtual communication network is established allow a gaming terminal to act as a server of the shared application to all other participating gaining terminals. Once the application has been run to completion, the server terminates the session and returns each gaming terminal back to its normal operating mode.

Méthode et système d'utilisation d'un réseau de jeu dotés d'un serveur communiquant avec de multiples terminaux, afin de partager directement des applications de jeu entre certains terminaux utilisant une architecture de communication de type point à point. Cette méthode et ce système constituent un ensemble de matériel et de logiciels servant à contrôler l'exécution d'un jeu partagé, à déterminer les terminaux pouvant participer au jeu, à accepter ou à refuser leur participation, et à établir ensuite un réseau de communication virtuelle directe entre les terminaux de jeu participants. Le réseau de communication virtuelle établi permet à un terminal de jouer le rôle de serveur de l'application partagée pour tous les autres terminaux participants. Une fois que l'application a été exécutée jusqu'à sa fin, le serveur ferme la session et remet chaque terminal en mode de fonctionnement normal.
