A fluid pump comprising one or more actuators, two end walls, a side wall; a cavity which, in use, contains fluid, the cavity having a substantially cylindrical shape bounded by the end walls and the side walls, at least two apertures through the cavity walls, at least one of which is a valved aperture, wherein the cavity radius, a, and height, h, satisfy the following inequalities: a/h is greater than 1.2; and h2/a is greater than 4 x 10-10m; and wherein, in use, the actuator causes oscillatory motion of one or both end walls in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the end walls; whereby, in use, the axial oscillations of the end walls drive radial oscillations of fluid pressure in the cavity.
La pompe à fluide de l'invention comprend un ou plusieurs actionneurs, deux parois d'extrémité, une paroi latérale et une cavité, laquelle contient du fluide lorsque la pompe fonctionne. La cavité a une forme sensiblement cylindrique limitée par les parois d~extrémité et les parois latérales, deux ouvertures au moins étant ménagées dans les parois de la cavité, l~une au moins desdites ouvertures étant équipée d~une vanne. Le rayon de ladite cavité, a, et sa hauteur, h, respectent les inégalités suivantes : a/h est supérieur à 1,2 ; et h2/a est supérieur à 4 x 10-10 m. Lors du fonctionnement, l~actionneur provoque le mouvement oscillatoire de l~une ou des deux parois d~extrémité suivant une direction perpendiculaire au plan desdites parois ; de ce fait, lors du fonctionnement, les oscillations axiales des parois d~extrémité entraînent des oscillations radiales de la pression du fluide dans la cavité.
