ABSTRACT A viewing window and a process for the production of a viewing window in a transparent, profiled article, in particular a sheet of glass or glass-ceramic, is described in which the viewing window is produced by filling the profile with a transparent composition, the composition being applied in such a manner that a smooth, flat surface facing outward is achieved in the area of the viewing window. The filling of the profile with the composition eliminates the interfering optical distortion caused by the profile.
