Disclosed is a twist crown closure which has an outwardly pointing scalloped edge at the bottom of alternating ribs in the skirt of the closure. The tip of each scallop is turned downwardly to facilitate application to a bottle. The twist crown closure is reformed such that the tips of the scallops are turned inwardly when the crown is applied to a bottle, creating a smooth bottom edge on the crown.
