A surfacing block (1) has upper and lower surfaces (2, 7) bounded by walls (5) extending between the surfaces (2, 7). The surfaces (2, 7) are of a generally cruciform shape having four arms (4) each of which extend in a direction substantially parallel to the lower surface (7) and substantially perpendicular to two of the other arms (4) of the block. The block (1) has around the boundary of its surface projections (8) and/or recesses (9) for interlocking engagement with recesses and/or projections of a neighbouring block. The shape of the block helps to improve the resistance to movement of the block when laid with similar blocks.
Un bloc de revêtement (1) possède des surfaces inférieure et supérieure (2, 7) reliées par des parois (5) s'étendant entre ces surfaces (2, 7). Ces dernières (2, 7) sont généralement cruciformes et ont quatre bras (4) s'étendant chacun dans un sens sensiblement parallèle à la surface inférieure (7), et sensiblement perpendiculaire aux deux autres bras (4) du bloc. Le bloc (1) comporte sur le pourtour de sa surface, des parties saillantes (8) et/ou des évidements (9) s'imbriquant dans les évidements et/ou les parties saillantes d'un bloc voisin. La forme du bloc permet d'améliorer sa résistance au déplacement lorsqu'il est posé avec des blocs similaires.
