-17- ABSTRACT During the heating of glass sheets having a metal powder-containing ceramic paint thereon, prior to forming the softened glass sheets by a press bending operation in which the painted surface easily separates from the press bending mold without depositing a residue thereon due to the degree of oxidation of the metal powder, an oxygen-containing gas is directed onto the exposed surface of the ceramic paint to accelerate the oxidation of the metal powder particles in the paint, thereby providing an increased throughput capacity for glass sheets conveyed through the heating furnace while at the same time maintaining the non-stick characteristic of the paint. 5201I
