An expandable spherical structure for deployment in a blood vessel or other body lumen, comprising: an open frame configured to assume a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration; and a closed face carried by the open frame; wherein the open frame is configured so as to permit substantially normal flow therethrough when the open frame is in its expanded configuration, and further wherein the closed face is configured so as to obstruct flow therethrough.

La présente invention concerne une structure sphérique expansible destinée à être déployée dans un vaisseau sanguin ou autre lumière corporelle, qui comprend : un cadre ouvert configuré pour prendre une configuration repliée et une configuration déployée; et une face fermée portée par le cadre ouvert; le cadre ouvert étant configuré de manière à permettre un écoulement sensiblement normal à travers celui-ci lorsque le cadre ouvert se trouve dans sa configuration déployée, la face fermée étant en outre configurée pour obstruer l'écoulement à travers celle-ci.
