A rotary actuator which carries magnetic read/write heads (14) into engagement with a magnetic recording medium has a rotor which includes an arm (16), a pivot assembly (18) and return path members (30, 32) extending from the pivot assembly (18). The stator includes a permanent magnet (26), a magnetic member (28) and magnetic coils (22, 24) on the magnetic member (28). When the magnetic coils (22, 24) are energized, flux flowing through the magnetic member (28) and the return path members (30, 32) aids or detracts from the magnetic flux generated by the permanent magnet (26).

L'invention concerne un actionneur rotatif qui met les têtes de lecture/écriture magnétiques (14) en contact avec un support d'enregistrement magnétique. L'actionneur présente un rotor qui comprend un bras (16), un ensemble pivot (18) et des éléments de trajet de retour (30, 32) qui s'étendent à partir de l'ensemble pivot (18). Le stator comporte un aimant permanent (26), un élément magnétique (28) et, sur cet élément (28), des bobines magnétiques (22, 24). Lorsque les bobines magnétiques (22, 24) sont alimentées, le flux qui traverse l'élément magnétique (28) et les éléments de trajet de retour (30, 32) renforcent ou diminuent le flux magnétique engendré par l'aimant permanent (26).
