The present invention relates to 2-amino-2-alkyl-5 heptenoic and heptynoic acid derivatives and their use in therapy, in particular their use as nitric oxide synthase inhibitors. In one embodiment of the invention, there is a compound of Formula I: (see formula I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein: R1 is hydrogen, halo, or C1-C5 alkyl, said C1-C5 alkyl optionally substituted by halo or alkoxy, said alkoxy optionally substituted by one or more halo; R2 is hydrogen, halo, or C1-C5 alkyl, said C1-C5 alkyl optionally substituted by halo or alkoxy, said alkoxy optionally substituted by one or more halo; and R3 is C1-C5 alkyl, said C1-C5 alkyl optionally substituted by halo or alkoxy, said alkoxy optionally substituted by one or more halo.
