The present invention relates to 2-amino-4-oxo-quinazolines according to the general formula (1), which bind to the LXR receptors and act as agonists and antagonists of the LXR receptors. The invention further relates to the treatment of diseases and/or conditions through binding of said nuclear receptor by said compounds and the production of medicaments using said compounds. In particular the compounds are useful in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia, obesity or other diseases associated with elevated lipoprotein (LDL) levels.
