Abstract A series of 3'-substituted-5'-(2-amino-4-pyyidyl)- 1',2',4'-triazoles are disclosed wherein the substituent on the 3' position of the triazole ring is selected from alkyl, hydroxymethyl, or alkyl substituted bylamido, ureido, thioureido, cyanoguanidino, nitroethylenediamino or 4-hydroxy-2-pyrimidylamino groups and substituents on the 2 position of the pyridyl ring are N-mono- and N,N-dialkyl. Also disclosed are intermediates useful for the preparation thereof. These novel compounde are H2 histaine antagonisis and are anti-secretory agents useful for treatment of conditions associated with gastic hyperacidity. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions containing the novel compounds of this in- vention and a method of using the compounds in the treatment of hyperacidity and peptic ulcers.
