A method and apparatus for obtaining an image to determine a three dimensional shape of a stationary or moving object using a bi dimensional coded light pattern having a plurality of distinct identifiable feature types. The coded light pattern is projected on the object such that each of the identifiable feature types appears at most once on predefined sections of distinguishable epipolar lines. An image of the object is captured and the reflected feature types are extracted along with their location on known epipolar lines in the captured image. The locations of identified feature types in the 2D image are corresponded to 3D coordinates in space in accordance to triangulation mappings. Thus a 3D mapping or model of imaged objects at an point in time is obtained.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant d'obtenir une image pour déterminer une forme tridimensionnelle d'un objet fixe ou mobile en utilisant un motif lumineux codé en deux dimensions ayant une pluralité de types de caractéristique identifiables distincts. Le motif lumineux est projeté sur l'objet de telle sorte que chacun des types de caractéristique identifiables apparaît au maximum une fois sur les sections prédéfinies des lignes épipolaires distinguables. Une image de l'objet est capturée et les types de caractéristique réfléchis sont extraits avec leur emplacement sur les lignes épipolaires connues sur l'image capturée. Les emplacements des types de caractéristique identifiés sur l'image en 2D sont mis en correspondance avec les coordonnées en 3D dans l'espace selon un mappage de triangulation. Ainsi, on obtient un mappage ou un modèle en 3D des objets imagés à un moment dans le temps.
