ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel 4 (5)-substituted imidazole derivatives having the general Formula I Image (I), wherein R1 is a lower alkyl, OH-substituted lower alkyl or alkenyl, R2 is H, lower alkyl or alkenyl, with the proviso that, when R2 is H or lower alkyl, then R1 is not a straight lower alkyl, R3 is H, CH3, CH2CH3, OCH3 or Hal, R4 is H, CH3, CH2CH3, OCH3 or Hal and Hal is halogen, or their non-toxic, acid-addition salts, and processes for their preparation are provided herein. The compounds and their salts possess valuable pharmacological properties and are useful, especially as selective .alpha.2-receptor antagonists.
