10 1. A tarpaulin (23) can be connected by means of clamp devices (1) to a beam assembly (25) for its transfer through a tarpaulin handling machine. The beam assembly has a number of parallel, through beam rods (30) and on each beam rod a number of beam tubes (33), which are alternatingly rigidly connected to a corresponding beam tube on a neighboring beam rod and are rotatable on the beam rod (30).
