In a compact frame assembly for a press having a top roll (5) and a bottom roll (4), the ends of which are supported in bearing housing members, each bearing housing member (16) for the bottom roll (4) has a head portion (53) of substantially T-shaped cross section, and each bearing housing member (17) for the top roll (5) has a foot portion (54) of inverted substantially T- shaped cross section. The foot portion stands on the head portion, and two sturdy channel bars (34, 35) are pivotally mounted laterally of the head portionand the foot portion, one on each side. The channel bars may be swung into clamping engagement with the cross bars (55) of the two tees to connect the head portion (53) to the foot portion (54). One of the rolls may be a shoe type press roll (4) having a flexible roll shell (11), and preferably the bearing housing members (16) of that roll have the basic shape of circular disks of a diameter that is smaller than the diameter of the flexible shell (11) to facilitate an exchange of the flexible shell.
Dans un ensemble châssis compact conçu pour une presse possédant un rouleau supérieur (5) et un rouleau inférieur (4), dont les extrémités sont supportées dans des éléments de logement de palier, chaque élément de logement de palier (16) du rouleau inférieur (4) possède une partie tête (53), dont la section transversale présente sensiblement une forme de T et chaque élément de logement de palier (17) du rouleau supérieur (5) possède une partie pied (54), dont la section transversale présente sensiblement une forme de T renversé. La partie pied repose sur la partie tête et deux barres en U robustes (34, 35) sont montées rotatives de chaque côté de la partie tête et de la partie pied respectivement. Les barres en U peuvent être orientées, de façon à s'accoupler fixement aux barres transversales (55) des deux parties en T, afin d'accoupler la partie tête (53) à la partie pied (54). Un des rouleaux peut être un rouleau de pression de type sabot (4) possédant une enveloppe souple (11) et, de préférence, les éléments de logement de palier (16) dudit rouleau présentent une forme de base de disques circulaires, dont le diamètre est inférieur à celui de l'enveloppe souple (11), de manière à faciliter le remplacement de cette dernière.
