An arrangement called PASS CONTROL is used in combination with a conventional RETURN statement as a substitute for a conventional CALL-and-RETURNsubprogram invocation sequence, and effects a return from a whole series of subprogram invocations directly to the subprogram that initiated the series without intervening returns to the subprograms that made the intermediate invocations in the series. The arrangement uses the conventional execution stack to effect the series of invocations and the return therefrom. The subprograms that are invoked by the series of invocations share an execution stack frame. Both a compiler arrangement and an application program execution arrangement for effecting PASS CONTROL functionality are disclosed.
Séquence appelée « PASS CONTROL », utilisée en association avec une instruction RETURN classique pour remplacer la séquence d'appel au sous-programme classique CALL-and-RETURN. La séquence de cette invention, à partir d'une série complète d'appels de sous-programmes, effectue une instruction de retour direct au sous-programme par lequel cette série a commencé sans retour intermédiaire aux sous-programmes ayant effectué les instructions d'appel intermédiaires de la série.
