A composite split head percussive tool (10) including a rigid load bearing framework (12) which carries a non-load bearing head assembly (20). The non- load bearing head assembly (20) comprises a pair of axially aligned split heads (22, 24) that are interconnected to each other by an elastomeric link (26). The elastomeric link (26) is encased and fixed within the tool body (12). During use of the tool (10), the elastomeric link acts as a dampener that suppresses the struck end rebound of the tool (10). When one head is struck against a surface, the elastomeric link (26) allows the unstruck head to move toward the struck head and provide a secondary blow that inhibits the tool's struck end from bouncing away from the surface thereby providing the hammer (10) with a unique "dead-blow" characteristic.
L'invention concerne un outil de percussion composite à double tête (10), constitué d'une structure rigide porteuse de charge (12) supportant un ensemble tête non porteur (20). L'ensemble tête non porteur (20) est lui-même composé de deux têtes placées dans l'axe l'une de l'autre (22, 24), reliées par une liaison élastomère (26). La liaison élastomère (26) est complètement intégrée au corps de l'outil (12). Pendant l'utilisation de l'outil (10), la liaison élastomère, faisant office d'un amortisseur, empêche la partie heurtée de l'outil (10) de rebondir.
