A container (800) for holding items to be microbially deactivated in a reprocessor. The container (800) is comprised of a generally cup shaped tray (812) having a bottom wall (814) and a continuous side wall (816) extending to one side from the periphery of the bottom wall. The bottom wall and the side wall defining a cavity (818) for receiving instruments and items to be microbially deactivated. A lid is attachable to the tray. The lid is dimensioned to cover the cavity. An inlet port is formed in the tray to communicate with the cavity. An outlet port is formed in the tray to communicate with the cavity. A barrier element (894) is disposed within one of the polls. The barrier element (894) controls flow through the one port The barrier element (894) is comprised of a material that is permeable to gas and water vapor but impermeable to liquid, bacteria and organisms. The barrier element (894) is movable between a first position wherein fluid flow through the one port is restricted to flow through the barrier element a second position wherein fluid flow through the one port is unrestricted.
L'invention concerne un récipient destiné à contenir des articles à soumettre à une stérilisation microbienne dans un appareil de retraitement. Le récipient comprend un plateau globalement en forme de coupelle comportant un fond et une paroi latérale continue qui s'étend vers un côté à partir du bord du fond. Le fond et la paroi latérale forment une cavité destinée à recevoir des instruments et des articles destinés à être soumis à une stérilisation microbienne. Un couvercle peut être fixé au plateau. Le couvercle est conçu pour recouvrir la cavité. Un port d'entrée formé dans le plateau communique avec la cavité. Un port de sortie formé dans le plateau communique avec la cavité. Un élément de séparation est disposé dans un des ports. Cet élément de séparation régule l'écoulement par ce port. L'élément de séparation est constitué d'une matière qui est perméable au gaz et à la vapeur d'eau, mais imperméable au liquide, aux bactéries et aux organismes. L'élément de séparation peut être déplacé dans une première position ou dans une seconde position. Dans la première position, le flux qui s'écoule à travers le port est dirigé vers l'élément de séparation, et dans la seconde position, le flux s'écoule librement à travers le port.
