A copy protected DVD disc and a method for producing and validating the DVD disc is provided. In an embodiment the method for protecting a DVD from being illegally copied includes producing a signature which includes introducing ambiguous symbols into an ECC block and partially disabling the error correction. A DVD encoder for use in producing the copy protected disc is also provided.

L'invention concerne un disque DVD protégé contre la copie ainsi qu'un procédé de production et de validation du disque DVD. Dans un mode de réalisation, le procédé de protection d'un DVD contre une copie illégale consiste à produire une signature consistant en l'introduction de symboles ambigus dans un bloc de mots de code de correction d'erreurs (ECC) et à invalider partiellement la correction d'erreur. Un codeur de DVD destiné à être utilisé pour produire le disque protégé contre la copie est également prévu.
