A dispensing device (50) for dispensing fluent material, e.g. a lubricant, over a prolonged period of time comprising a cylinder (2), a piston (6) and/or extendable membrane separating the cylinder into a fluent material containing first chamber (69) and a second electrolyte containing chamber (9), a sacrificial first electrode (61), a gas-releasing second electrode (63) connected to the first electrode, the electrodes not being in contact with the electrolyte prior to activation of the device, and means for adjusting the surface area of the second electrode which will be exposed for contact with the electrolyte on activation of the device. A method of lubricating a machine bearing is also disclosed.
L'invention est un dispositif de distribution (50) de substances fluides, par exemple un lubrifiant, durant une période de temps prolongée. Ce dispositif comporte les éléments suivants : un cylindre (2), un piston (6) et/ou une membrane extensible séparant le cylindre en une première chambre (69) contenant la substance fluide et une seconde chambre (9) contenant un électrolyte, une première électrode sacrifiée (61), une seconde électrode gazogène (63) connectée à la première, les électrodes n'étant pas en contact avec l'électrolyte avant l'activation du dispositif, et un dispositif d'ajustement de la surface de la seconde électrode qui sera mise en contact avec l'électrolyte au cours de l'activation du dispositif. Une méthode de lubrification de paliers de machine est également divulguée.
