A method is described for constructing a generalized connector for use in an object-oriented program system, the connector (307) being a middleware service logic mechanism between an event monitor (305) and transmission sub-system (309) and an application system (313) having an application system API (317), wherein the connector can recognize events provided by the event monitor as event objects (301)and can automatically determine which corresponding EJB is associated with the event object, and can invoke methods on the EJB in a specified order, and can collect the results (311) of the method invocations for return to the event monitor. A connector for performing these functions is also described.

L'invention concerne un procédé de construction d'un connecteur généralisé à utiliser dans un système de programme orienté objet. Ledit connecteur (307) est un mécanisme logique de service intergiciel placé entre un moniteur d'événements (305), un sous-système de transmission (309) et un système d'application (313) comportant un système d'application API (317). Ce connecteur peut reconnaître des événements donnés par le moniteur d'événements comme objets d'événement (301) et peut déterminer automatiquement quel EJB correspondant est associé à l'objet d'événement. Il peut ensuite appeler des procédés sur le EJB dans un ordre spécifié et recueillir les résultats (311) des appels de procédé pour les renvoyer au moniteur d'événements. L'invention concerne également un connecteur destiné à exécuter ces fonctions.
