A green ultra violet absorbing glass composition comprising by weight: 68 to 75 % SiO2, 10 to 18 % Na2O, 5 to 15 % CaO, 0 to 10 % MgO, 0 to 5 % Al2O3, and 0 to 5 % K2O, where CaO + MgO is 6 to 15 % and Na2O + K2O is 10 to 20 %; and colorants including: from 0.5 to 1.5 wt.% total iron oxide as Fe2O3, wherein the weight ratio of Fe+2/Fe+3 is less than 0.35; and 0.10 to 2.00 wt.% maganese compound as MnO2.

La présente invention concerne un composition de verre de teinte verte absorbant les ultraviolets comprenant, en poids: 68 à 75 % de SiO¿2?, 10 à 18 % de Na¿2?O, 5 à 15 % de CaO, 0 à 10 % de MgO, 0 à 5 % de Al¿2?O¿3?, et 0 à 5 % de K¿2?O, CaO + MgO réprésentant entre 6 et 15 % et Na¿2?O + K¿2?O réprésentant entre 10 et 20 %; cette composition est également constituée de colorants comprenant: de 0,5 à 1,5 % en poids d'oxyde de fer total sous la forme de Fe¿2?O¿3?, le rapport pondéral de Fe?+2¿/Fe?+3¿ étant inférieur à 0,35, et de 0,10 à 2,00 % en poids d'un composé de manganèse tel que MnO¿2?.
