A machine (1) for consolidating and profiling the ballast bed of a track has a machine frame (2) which is movable on track and a stabilizer unit (9) which is connected to the said machine frame vertically adjustably by way of drives (10). The said stabilizer unit is equipped with a vibration generator to generate horizontal vibrations running transversely to the longitudinal direction of the machine, and a vertically adjustable ballast plough (8) for ballasting the track. The ballast plough (8) is secured directly to the stabilizer unit (9) to form a structural unit.
